Located in the centre of the Vilamoura resort, The Old Course Golf Club is a striking parkland course made challenging by the ever-present pine trees. Often lining the greens and fairways, they make for subtle traps when complemented by the sandy bunkers.
Designed by Frank Pennink, the course has become one of the oldest and most popular in the Algarve region, and can be enjoyed by beginners and serious golfers alike.
Highlights include the picturesque 4th hole, a par 3 which requires a lofted tee shot over the only body of water on the course. As well as the small lake, a signature large pine stands as an obstacle to the green.
Other holes such as the 6th allow for a sea view, making for a course which really has a lot to offer in terms of scenery.
The Old Course Golf Club encourages any level of golfer to battle the sloping greenery and tree-lined holes, but the lack of water threats and some relatively open fairways make it an ideal challenge for the intermediate player.
