One of two courses designed by Frank Pennink in the Vilamoura area, Pinhal Golf Course is a par 72 course which was established in 1976.
Boasting a modernised clubhouse with views of the practice range, it is a course which shouldn’t provide too much in the way of difficulty for experienced golfers. Pine trees provide the main challenge, particularly on the front nine.
Some holes, such as the 2nd, have their fairways completely closed off by pine trees, leaving a narrow opening to squeeze a tee shot through. To add to the test, some holes feature sole pine trees in the middle of a fairway, giving an extra obstacle for the player to overcome.
The course comes with some defining features, with the front nine sloping down into deep pine trees before the back nine brings the player back uphill for air, adding sea views into the picture. The 17th hole consists of a 90 degree dog-leg right, making for a severe test of any golfer’s distance control in order to find the fairway.
Golfers of many abilities can enjoy Pinhal Golf Course as another of the stunning courses that Vilamoura has to offer.
