There is a wide choice of golf courses to play at in and around Marbella and we can ‘mix & match’ any of the following
Located just five minutes from the heart of Marbella, this stunning golf course was designed by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Senior. It makes up one of the Costa del Sol’s most challenging golf experiences, all set amongst a beautiful hilly green backdrop. Fairways are contoured to provide a tough test for golfers of any ability. Short par 3 holes are characterised by elevated greens, and a barrier of sand or water to the front. For longer holes, obstacles like lakes and bunkers are often concealed from view by a dog-leg. A thoroughly enjoyable challenge in a tranquil spot just off Marbella’s stunning beaches, golfers of any handicap are encouraged to come and try their hand.
Roughly 10km away from Puerto Banus sits La Quinta Golf and Country club. This course was designed in 1990 by Ryder Cup winning Manuel Pinero, in conjunction with Antonio Garcia Garrido. Featuring three sets of nine holes, there are multiple ways to play a round of 18. Although the course may appear fairly simple, it can be deceptive. Deep bunkers and steep, rolling fairways contribute to the challenge for all players here at La Quinta. As well as a restaurant, bar and pro shop, La Quinta offers a fantastic golf academy, the first in Marbella. A course for the ages, it provides a non-threatening route to tackle with friends or family while taking in the stunning Mediterranean views.
Cabopino Golf is located at the easternmost end of Marbella facing the Cabopino yachting marina. The 18 holes course was designed by the architect Juan Ligués Creus and has spectacular views of the Mediterranean, as well as beautiful vegetation with a profusion of magnificent wide crowned pines. The course has three par 3, two par 5 and the rest are par 4. The longest hole is the 14th, a 456 meters par 5 with a wide and undulating green protected at the front and rear with lakes. The most spectacular hole is undoubtedly the 3rd, which according to numerous comments is one of the most beautiful of the Costa del Sol, a par 4 with a high exit and a green surrounded by bunkers at a height of about 80 meters. Also worth mentioning are the 13th and 15th, both par 3 protected by lakes, and the 10th with panoramic view to the Mediterranean Sea. Cabopino is a course where both, high handicap and more experienced players can enjoy themselves. The course features also a Golf Academy, located at the access to the premises. The Academy has magnificent facilities with a putting green, bunkers and approach areas, practice areas in carpet and grass, according to the play level. The driving range can accommodate 30 players with a length of 200 metres and a width of 160 metres, and includes a wide variety of distance marks for all types of shots.
Los Naranjos is a typical Robert Trent Jones Sr. design with generous fairways and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. The greens, with Penn A4-grass, are spacious and slightly undulated. The tees are long and have four markers: red, yellow, white and black with course lengths starting from 5.131 metres and reaching 6.532 metres at its longest. Since the opening in 1977, Los Naranjos has been the host of several mayor competitions, including the Spanish Open, and is ranked one of the best golf courses in Spain. In 2005 and again in 2008 Los Naranjos was voted Course of the year on the Costa del Sol. From the Club House you will enjoy astonishing views of one of the best golf courses in Spain. The location, Nueva Andalucía, is a privileged area really close to Puerto Banús, in Marbella.
The Rio Real golf course was designed by the legendary Javier Arana, considered to be the best Spanish designer of all time. Located in the most prestigious area of Marbella, just 5 minutes from the city centre, this golf course opened in 1965. The golf course runs alongside the Rio Real River, from which it takes its name, and forms an integral part of the course, right up until it reaches the Mediterranean Sea. The design makes it a spectacular course. With 18 holes (par 72) and more than 6,000 m in length, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (Real Federación Española de Golf) considers it to be a prestigious golf course and one of the best in Spain, both for its layout, as well as it unique beauty. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, one can play all year around, with seafront holes and spectacular views. The course is suitable for every player, thanks to its more elevated holes, which make them even more appealing as they require the use of various clubs.
Santa Clara Golf Marbella – 18 hole golf course, par 71 designed by Enrique Canales Busquets and only few minutes from the centre of Marbella, in front of Los Monteros Hotel Resort, just behind the Costa del Sol Hospital. Close to many amenities of Marbella, Santa Clara Golf Club is set to become one of the finest golf courses in the Costa del Sol. The course blends dramatically into the rugged local terrain. The golf course has been created with respect for the natural environment of indigenous wild life and vegetation, providing a fantastic meeting place for golf enthusiasts. Santa Clara Golf Club Marbella presents a technically challenging but straightforward and pleasant round, wide fairways with limited rough and open greens without pronounced slope. The golf course is highlighted by the “Santa Clara Corner” formed by the 12th, 13th and 14th holes, a perfect combination of pars 4,3 and 5, which requires the golfer to make long and accurate shots.
