Take a dive into one of the 2 outdoor saltwater swimming pools surrounded by lush and peaceful gardens, or relax at the Spa with an indoor swimming pool, Turkish bath and sauna where you can schedule a Magic Spa massage.
For your meals, there is 1 restaurant and 3 bars (2 of which only open in the summer).
All rooms offer a balcony with views of the sea (frontal or side), garden or hotel grounds and have a TV and Wi-Fi.
The fishing village of Alvor reveals its charm in its old streets and surrounding scenery. The Alvor inlet, a natural habitat for dozens of migratory birds, fish and shellfish, is a protected paradise that is worth exploring. Some of the best beaches in the Algarve are in this district, as well as world-class golf courses. Alvor has a variety of bars and restaurants, including a couple of great Irish bars, but certainly is not lively as the larger towns such as Vilamoura or Lagos. When we last visited in November 2019 the town won ‘our prize’ for the cheapest beer with couple of bars on the walk from the hotel into town selling a pint for 1Euro !!
Guests of Pestana Dom Joao II enjoy discounted green fees at a choice of 5 superb golf courses owned by Pestana Group – Gramacho, Pinta, Silves and Alto, all in the Alvor area, and Vila Sol in Vilamoura. Most of our guests staying at the Alvor Praia take advantage of the residents rates available at the Pestana courses but we can also tailormake any itinerary to include any other golf courses as required
