Laranjal Golf Course makes up part of the Quinta do Lago collection of golf courses, complementing Quinta do Lago’s north and south courses. Along with the south course, Laranjal is a championship standard course – players can expect stunning undulating fairways, pine trees and lakes aplenty. Another feature of Laranjal Golf Course are the orange trees, which remind players of the course’s origin as an orange grove.
Opened in 2009 after being designed by Jorge Santana da Silva, the course had its popularity soar as it claimed ‘Best Golf Course’ at the 2011 Portuguese Travel Awards.
The course is just a couple of kilometres from the Quinta do Lago resort and is based in the beautiful Ludo Valley. Renowned for the high quality of its greens, Laranjal sows the turf with Penn A4. Fairways receive Bermuda grass. Although the terrain is never too steep, the course is not for the faint hearted with its tricky lakes and long par 5s, including the signature 16th hole.
The courses are owned by the same company that owns the nearby Magnolia Hotel and guests staying at the Magnolia are offered discounted green fees.
